The journey to here has spanned some 40 years starting back in 1980 at the Avalon TV studios in Wellington New Zealand. With it a wealth of knowledge has been gained along the way and the long standing passion for making good and quality television and working in the media.

The career path came from the quite humble beginnings in the industry as a junior videotape editor at the TVNZ studios at Avalon, Wellington, New Zealand. It featured many genres including news and current affairs and large scale live events with sports production becoming the mainstay. 1997 saw a move from the TVNZ base in Wellington to the new HQ for TVNZ in Auckland and a move into the sports department as an editor for the TVNZ Sports Production team. Not long after this there was the encouragement to pitch to the network for a weekly Motorsport show.The pitch was successful and a era of 13 years of programming on TVNZ for 48 weekends of the year had begun. Its time span produced multiple Qantas Film and TV Awards for Best LIVE Sports Production, two TV Guide Viewers choice "Best on the Box" awards, two Speedway NZ Media Awards for the contribution to the sport and a personal merit award from V8 Supercars Australia in an unrepeated move a for the contribution towards the growth of the Sport.

2009 saw the departure from TVNZ and the creation of Perspective Group Ltd. Its primarily purpose was to showcase the talents on offer from company owner David Turner and then build a base of clients in many areas and budgets and grow over time and retain good business values with an honest and fair approach to all.

David in that time has become a requested Producer and Director for the Asian Broadcasting Union and represented them at the 2010 Commonwealth Games, and Asia Games China and again four years later at the 2014 Commonwealth Games, Glasgow and the 17th Asia Games Korea and 18th Games in Jakarta 2018. Several appearances for the Madrid based Olympic Boardcasting Services as multi feed director London Olympics 2012 and then as the MDS Team Leader at Sochi Winter Olympics 2014 Quality Control Manager Rio 2016 and Commentary Producer Korea 2018 and onwards to Senior producer in both Tokyo 2021 and Beijing 2022. A core production member and Producer / Director at the 34th Americas Cup in San Francisco and 36th edition in Bermuda to Head of Production for COR / Prada at the 2021 America's Cup.

In addition there have been many roles for TVNZ (TV1 /2, Duke), Media Works (TV3) Prime NZ and Sky Sports NZ. A team member with several other production companies in lead director or producer roles or production support roles. David also serves as a Trustee of the Motorsport New Zealand Trust (13 years) aiding the development of young driver talent and the growth of the sport. in the Motorsport Elite Academy, he was Editor and senior writer for a general motorsport magazine Karbon for a period of two years. 

 

Perspective Group Ltd became the Official Production Company of choice for the first year of the V8 Super Tourers NZ with LIVE coverage in New Zealand and Australia, created several TV Series on Sport and Life Styles, the Promo Production Company for the World Master Games Auckland 2017,Ssang Yong NZ Racing Series, and the chosen Production Company,for the Hydroplane NZ 2014/15 Championship WRC NZ the production company for Western Springs Speedway and played a role in many other local productions.

In many ways the story has simply just got started and it will continue to grow.
